Seems like as good a way to capture The State of the Stoat as anything

1. Are you an Essential Worker?

Not at all.  I've been working from home since March 13, as has the rest of my company.  Most of my team is across an ocean from me, so I'm used to Zoom meetings, I already had a handy-dandy laptop as my main work machine, and honestly, the lack of a 2nd monitor really hasn't slowed me down that much.

2. How many drinks have you had since the quarantine has started?

I was drinking the usual amount (2-3 glasses a week), usually timed with social Zoom hangouts.  But the last two weeks have been dry due to gallstone sadness.

3. If you have kids... Are they driving you nuts?

No kids, no pets, no roomies.  It's just me in here.

4. What new hobby have you taken up during this?

Hahahaha.  I have about the same amount of free time as before -- I've gotten back my commuting time, but that is replaced with sleeping in an extra 45 minutes, and going for walks after the workday is done.  And my brain is more fried than usual, so it's hard to concentrate on reading, never mind doing anything new that would take cognitive power.

5. How many grocery runs have you done?

I go once a week, and since that first weekend when I went to multiple places to make sure I got all the basics, I've only gone to Star Market.

6. What are you spending your stimulus check on?

I am lucky to have a generous-enough salary so that I will not be getting a check.  If I did, I'd probably try to donate it somewhere, but that's not up to me.

7. Do you have any special occasions that you will miss during this quarantine?

I missed a birthday bash for the first of my local friends to turn 50.  Guess we'll just have to do a group celebration later on.  Also no family gathering for Easter.  And the company trip to Barcelona in June is obviously a no-go.

8. Are you keeping your housework done?

As much as I ever do.  Actually did a fair bit of house cleaning at the beginning of the gallstone craziness, when I thought it was food poisoning/insane amounts of gas, and moving around made me feel better.

9a. What movie/TV have you watched during this quarantine?

Caught up on the latest season of Doctor Who.  Am not waiting to watch Top Chef with friends as I usually would, because I need comfort viewing.  Started on She-Ra, which is just adorable! Need to get on getting that free month of Acorn so I can see the Miss Fisher movie.

9b. What are you reading right now?

Done a fair bit of re-reading, but did enjoy Head On (John Scalzi) and Notes from a Young Black Chef (Kwame Onwuachi).

9c. What video game are you playing?

Monument Valley 2 is a lovely calming puzzle game that I've actually gone thru twice because it's so soothing.

10. What are you streaming with?

Netflix

11. Nine months from now is there any chance of you having a baby?

No more so than there has been for the past 20 years.  :-D

12. What's your go-to quarantine meal?

That's about to change, what with needing a low-fat diet to stave off any more gallbladder attacks.  Before that I was trying to do take-out once a week and otherwise eating about the same as usual.  Now it looks like a quest to make chicken breasts exciting.

13. Is this whole situation making you paranoid?

Not really.  More addicted to the phone; more easily overwhelmed by computer time.  And definitely on edge, feeling like I should be doing something.  But not paranoid.

14. Has your internet gone out on you during this time?

Not so far.  Not that I wouldn't mind a little enforced time off from work.  (Yay for Patriots Day and the long weekend)

15. What month do you predict this all ends?

"End" is a difficult word.  I'm trying to assume that the current normal will last til at least June, and I'm assuming I'll keep mentally extending that.  Because if I think about it ending, I'll just be setting myself up for disappointment when it doesn't happen.

16. First thing you're gonna do when you get off quarantine?

Schedule surgery for this damn gallbladder.

17. Where do you wish you were right now?

Nowhere in particular. I like my apartment and my city.  It'd be nice to be able to go to a museum or a bookstore or meet people for dinner.  But I'm really not clawing my way out of here or anything.

18. What free-from-quarantine activity are you missing the most?

I want my weekly TV-group-hangout back.  Zoom ain't the same.

19. Have you run out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer?

No.  Hand sanitizer seems unnecessary when you're not going anywhere (tho maybe I'm kidding myself?).  I've moved on from my preferred TP brand to whatever's available, but I have plenty.

20. Do you have enough food to last a month?

Nope.  There will be grocery shopping this weekend for sure.
